Education
Now, more than ever, it is so important to be well-educated before choosing a new puppy for your family.

Please don't be fooled by a cheaply priced puppy. That's often the first indication of a backyard breeder or a puppy mill. You may get a great price up front but end up paying much more later in the form of vet bills and expensive trainers.

A professional breeder will only breed dogs who have passed genetic and health tests, and who have good personalities and dispositions. Look over websites thoroughly to see evidence of these tests or ask breeders for copies of them. A good breeder will happily provide them for you. They should also know their dogs well-enough to be able to honestly describe their personalities.

You'll also want to see what kind of education breeders are providing for their puppies!
